As part of my research dissertation, I was exploring the new technology of 3D printing in construction projects. It was a pilot study that aimed to explore building efficient and sturdy walls exploiting 3D printing technology in a local context.
This study was conducted for the purpose of minimizing time, cost and wastes in wall construction while increasing precision and design flexibility. An apparatus was needed to validate the appropriateness of the different concrete mixes tested. This apparatus had to be mimicking the same concepts adopted by actual 3D concrete printers; the same layer by layer technique, and the same concrete journey from the concrete holder to the nozzle .
